Jodie Born 20 - 11 -
1992 we brought her
home at least Dave and my
son Sean
brought her home on our
Wedding Anniversary 10th
January 1993 she was a
very independent puppy
even at that early stage
and was not going to go
into the large cage we had
prepared for her!! this
was the start of her life
with us and her becoming a
very precious Girl. Sadly
as you know we had to have
her put to sleep 12 - 07 -
2006 . She led a very
long and very very active
life, She lived life to
the full and was never
ill. Every new experience
she took on board and took
it all in her stride,
Jodie would go to work
with Dave on his new sites
and work all day busy
looking for rabbits,
searching out mice
sometimes digging holes
that ended up with you
only being able to se the
tip of her tail!! She
would of course stop for
breakfast at 10am and
lunch at 1pm this of
course was not her meal
times but the guys on the
site and her favourite
position was sitting on
the big tracks of the
machine that would dig the
trenches this was her
favourite position for
breaks, then off again for
more work, She loved
swimming and over the
years taught all the off
spring that we kept to do
these things, living with
our very precious
companions as we do one
notices all the whims and
ways and she trained her
babies to perfection
showing them the ropes,so
to speak. they learnt so
much from her. Sean our
son taught her a trick of
sitting and he would howl
and She would copy,never
to do this for anyone else
only him, she would
stretch her neck and hold
her head so high and howl
only to his command She
made us laugh so much.
Jodie although very
independent was also an
excellent mum, when we
decided it was time for
her to have a litter and
duly mated her, Se
certainly came into her
own when having puppies,
she produced them with no
problems at all was very
attentive and played and
trained them well in the 8
weeks that they were under
her care, She was a
wonderful brood bitch and
certainly the title we
gave Her of Matriarch was
an understatement.!! We
always marvelled at how
well she handled her
maternal duties and
enjoyed the many hours of
watching her with her
babies. When we kept
Charli and Megan never
having kept two pups
together we wondered what
we would have let
ourselves in for but no
need to worry Jodie did
all the work they were
very well behaved and
didn't step out of line as
their mum would soon keep
them in check.

Jodie on vacation
Do not stand at my
grave and weep
I am not there; I do
not sleep.
I am a thousand winds
that blow,
I am the diamond
glints on snow,
I am the sun on
ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn
rain.
When you awaken in the
morning's hush
I am the swift
uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in
circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not stand at my
grave and cry,
I am not there; I did
not die. |
